Alyssa Batsakis

Hi there! My name is Alyssa (she/her) and I am a theater & film artist, currently based in Cincinnati! Welcome to my little side of the internet!

 

I was raised by a big Greek and Midwestern family in a small town just outside of Cincinnati. I relocated to the East Coast for about a decade in the early party of my career. During that time I earned my BFA in Musical Theater, with the highest GPA in my theater school's graduating class (I know total nerd... also RIP to my alma mater 😳).

 

While studying at UArts and in the early part of my career, I dipped her toes in whatever artistic endeavors I could. I got a good mix of experience in acting, teaching artist and directing contracts while living in Philly. I received additional training with masterclasses and workshops at The London Academy of Dramatic Arts for Shakespeare performance and The Royal Conservatoire in Scotland for Contemporary performance. I got to perform at prestigious venues such as Ars Nova in NYC and worked as a teaching artist at well-known companies such as, The Walnut Street Theatre.

 

During the pandemic, I moved to the Boston area for a short time and decided to see what on-screen work was all about. I took a forced break from theater contracts (like everyone) and worked on several commercials, film, tv & industrial projects while there, as both an actor and host. I also started my own virtual acting coaching business, putting my previous teaching artist experience to good use. I also took this time to imagine how I would re-enter the "theater space," as I re-evaluated my priorities and the art I truly wanted to create moving forward.

In the fall of 2022, I returned to my home city of Cincinnati to continue my work closer to my family. Since moving back, I have continued to work on acting, directing, and teaching artist contracts, traveling for projects when needed. I also expanded my private coaching business, now taking in-person students in the Greater Cincinnati area. However, my largest project to date and main focus is now with The Ghostlight Stage Company, which I founded in 2023 with the support of Aiden Dalton and my sister, Eliana Batsakis. This focus shift into the world of producing came out of my own frustration within the arts sector with the lack of accessible, affordable and high quality arts programming, that also felt authentic and truly innovative. The Ghostlight Stage Company was our solution to that and now I work as the CEO/Performing Arts Producer, alongside my sister, Eliana Batsakis, as the Visual Arts Producer. The Ghostlight is a nonprofit arts organization that is breaking down barriers and innovating new ways to experience the arts.
